Wednesday’s ad is for Oranjeboom, from 1950. From the late 1800s until the 1950s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for the Oranjeboom Brewery. It was founded in Rotterdam, in The Netherlands, in 1690, but moved to Breda in 1990. Five years later they sold to InterBrew (now ABI) who closed the brewery in 2004. This poster was created by Dutch artist Reyn Dirksen.

Tuesday’s ad is for Bier Ist Gut, from 1952. From the late 1800s until the 1950s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is titled “Bier ist gut,” which of course means “beer is good. But who commissioned the poster and for what purpose continues to be elusive so I don’t realy know what it was for. The poster was created by Swiss artist Paul Gusset.

This poster is for the Löwenbräu Brewery, in Munich, Germany, which opened in 1690. This poster was created by German-born Swiss artist Carl Moos.

This poster is for Brasserie Albert Bräu, in Fontvieille, Monaco. This poster was created by French artist Pierre Bellenger.

Friday’s ad is for Bière Du Fort-Carré, from around 1900. From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for Brasserie de Fort-Carré, in Saint-Dizier, France. It was founded in 1796. They were bought out in 1953, and the brewery was closed, although more recently a new company is bringing it back. This poster was created by Italian and French artist Leonetto Cappiello. It depicts French king Francis I in 1544 during a historical incident during a siege led by the Spanish and Bavarian troops of Spanish rival Charles V.

In later years, the poster was also used to create a sign for the brewery.

This poster is for the Amstelbrouwerij, or Amstel Brewery, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was founded in 1870. Heineken bought the brewery in 1968, and closed their facility in 1982. I don’t know who the artist was, but I think he or she was going for Marilyn Monroe or Kim Novak.

This poster is for “La Grande Marque des Bières du Nord,” or “the big brand of northern beers” (according to Google translate,” though more likely something along the lines of “The Beers of Northern France.” It was created by artist J. Sogno.
