From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for the Brasserie de l’aigle (which is Brewery of the Eagle), located in Morteau, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France.

This poster is for Grande Brasserie De La Croix De Lorraine, also located in the Lorraine, advertising that they produce “Bieres blondes & brunes.”

This poster is for Foster’s Lager, with the most interesting tagline “Most Nourishing.”

Beer In Ads #2867: Resch’s Dinner Ale

Monday’s ad is for Resch’s Dinner Ale, from the 1940s. From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for Resch’s Dinner Ale, which originally was brewed by Resch’s Waverly Brewery in Sydney, Australia. But in 1929, it was bought by Tooth and Co., who owned it when this poster was created.

Beer In Ads #2866: Forever Amstel

Sunday’s ad is for Amstel, from 1948. From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for the Amstel Brewery, and it depicts “a young lady wearing traditional Dutch clothing with a hat, apron and wooden clog shoes, holding up a pint of beer as she leans against some Amstel wooden crate boxes with two empty bottles of beer on the ground.” It was created by an artist named Shaw. The text at the bottom translates to “A favourite wherever it goes.”

Beer In Ads #2865: Hofbräuhaus Greetings from Munich

Saturday’s ad is for Hofbräuhaus, from 1910s, I think. From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for Hofbräu München, and was created by Hans Heinrich Koch. The text at the bottom translates to “Greetings from Munich.”

Beer In Ads #2863: Van Vollenhoven’s Stout

Thursday’s ad is for Van Vollenhoven’s Stout, from the 1940s, I think. From the late 1800s until the 1940s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for Van Vollenhoven’s Stout, brewed by De Gekroonde Valk (“The Crowned Falcon”) which was an Amsterdam brewery in the Netherlands that was founded by Jan van den Bosch. In 1792, the Rotterdam Van Vollenhoven family took over the company and gave its name to different beers, including the stout. The text at the bottom of the ad, “Geeft Kracht aan Jong en Oud,” translates as “Gives Strength to Young and Old.”
