Tuesday’s ad is for “Coors Beer,” from 1938. This ad was made for the Coors Brewing Co., who did not do as much advertising as their competitors. In part, this was because they were not sold nationwide until the 1980s. This explores the idea that “For Greatest Satisfaction … Choose a Golf Club with Balanced Weight.” And from that advice, they conclude that you should likewise “Choose the Beer with Balanced Flavor.” Um, okay.

This ad ran shortly after the end of Prohibition and features the tagline “Beer: Taken in Moderation Not Only is Harmless, but Actually Healthful.”

In part, this was because they were not sold nationwide until the 1980s. This ad features the tagline “Taste the High Country,” which was used in the early 1980s and this time it’s an outdoorsy man with climbing ropes slung over his shoulder in shorts and woolen socks.

Beer In Ads #3689: Taste The High Country Cowboy & His Horse

Tuesday’s ad is for “Coors Golden Lager Beer,” from 1980. This ad was made for the Coors Brewing Co., who did not do as much advertising as their competitors. In part, this was because they were not sold nationwide until the 1980s. This ad features the tagline “Taste the High Country,” which was used in the early 1980s and another dude, though this time with a full beard posing with his horse. Advertising at this time really went through a cowboy phase, and it wasn’t just Coors. Ads from the same time by Anheuser-Busch, Marlboro and many others were heavily cowboy-themed.
