Wednesday’s ad is for Luzern Bockbier, from 1935. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for the Vereinigte Brauereien Luzern, or the United Breweries Lucerne, in Switzerland, which was formed in 1922 by the merger of two local breweries and in 1937 was renamed the Lucerne Brewery Eichhof, and in 1960 shortened again to Brewery Eichhof. Since 2008, it has been part of Heineken. I don’t know who the artist was that created the poster.

Tuesday’s ad is for Urania Zürich, from 1950. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for the Urania Zürich Bier and Speise Restaurant, a Swiss “beer and food restaurant” located in Zürich, Switzerland. I don’t know if it’s still a going concern, but there is a Urania Sternwarte in Zürich, which is a telescope observatory, so that’s likely the area where it was located. The poster was created by Swiss artist Alfred Koella.

Monday’s ad is for Löwenbrau, from 1927. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made for Löwenbräu Zurich, a Swiss brewery created by a merger of two breweries in 1890. Brauerei Hürlimann bought the brewery in 1984, closing the facility two years later, but continued to produce the brands for a few years afterward. The tagline translates as “Drink Lowenbrau Beer from Zürich” and the poster was also created by Swiss artist Otto Baumberger.

Saturday’s ad is for Trinkt Schweizer Bier, from 1920. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster was made by the Swiss Brewery Association to promote Swiss beer. The text, Trinkt Schweizer Bier, translates to “Drink Swiss Beer.” It was created by Swiss artist Hans Schoellhorn.

Thursday’s ad is for Zum Essen, from 1963. I believe it’s from Switzerland. From the late 1800s until the 1960s, poster art really came into its own, and in Europe a lot of really cool posters, many of them for breweries, were produced. This poster is for Zum Essen Ein Bier, which Google translates as “To eat a beer,” although I suspect that’s not quite right. The poster was created by Swiss artist Paul Trauffer.
