Tuesday’s ad is for Schlitz, from 1954. The ad is part of a series of ads from that year using the tagline “If You Like Beer, You’ll Love Schlitz.” I’ve featured two others from this series before, and this third one shows a woman by the pool, but wearing a shawl so she doesn’t get too much sun. She’s got her smokes and a bottle of Schlitz, so she’s probably good for a time. With all the jewelry she’s got on, I doubt she’ll be taking a dip in the pool anytime soon.

Beer In Ads #1117: Hackerbrau
Saturday’s ad is for Hackerbrau, from the 1920s. Hacker used to be one of the big Munich breweries but merged with Pschorrbräu in 1972 to become the Hacker-Pschorr Brewery. This ad has a decidedly travel adventure in Africa feel to it, and looks like the artistic poster art of that time period.

Friday’s ad is for Guinness, from the 1950s or possibly early 60s. It’s a very minimalist ad, but I love how animated the artist made the “G” and how much it conveys with just a few black lines.
