Beer In Ads #2545: My Beer Is Rheingold Says Adolphe Menjou

Thursday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1948. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actor Adolphe Menjou tells the story about the time he was fitted for four suits in a Paris Railway as an illustration of how much of a connoisseur he is, beer connoisseur even, and declaring Rheingold Extra Dry the best.

Menjou also appeared in a second ad that same year. In this second ad, he talks about how once he was introduced to collecting things, like stamps, he just went nuts, and the same was true when he was introduced to Rheingold Extra Dry.

Beer In Ads #2544: My Beer Is Rheingold Says Mercedes McCambridge

Wednesday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1950. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actress of radio, stage, film, and television Mercedes McCambridge talks about chasing rainbows but contrasts that by saying “nowhere [has she] found a beer to compare with New York’s one and only Extra Dry beer — Rheingold!”

Beer In Ads #2543: My Beer Is Rheingold Says Herbert Marshall

Tuesday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1949. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, English stage, screen and radio actor Herbert Marshall explains that while he likes variety in the roles he chooses to play, he prefers to stick to just one beer, Rheingold Extra Dry.

In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actress Martha Scott after making a film shot in London, can’t wait to get home to New York City for some Rheingold Extra Dry.

Beer In Ads #2541: My Beer Is Rheingold Says Van Heflin

Sunday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1956. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American theatre, radio and film actor Van Heflin uses a painfully bad fishing metaphor about “the one that got away” but he promises there will be fish “right out of the pan” not to mention Rheingold Extra Dry “right out of the ice.”

Saturday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1956. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actress Dorothy McGuire explains that her secret to taking good “snapshots” is making sure they drink Rheingold Extra Dry beforehand to make them pose more naturally.

Beer In Ads #2539: My Beer Is Rheingold Says Ed Gardner

Friday’s ad is for Rheingold, from 1956. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American comic actor, writer and director, best remembered as the creator and star of the radio’s popular Duffy’s Tavern comedy series, Ed Gardner is shown in the bar he managed in the television show based on his radio show. But then after the show was when he liked to “relax with friends and enjoy a glass of” Rheingold Extra Dry.

In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actress Eleanor Parker is explaining that she has “very definite tastes and ideas,” which is why she never orders any beer except Rheingold Extra Dry.

In the late 1940s and 1950s, Rheingold recruited a number of prominent celebrities to do ads for them, all using the tagline: “My beer is Rheingold — the Dry beer!” In this ad, American actor Gregory Peck is still in character apparently from a western, “The Big Country,” talking about the gold he’s protecting riding “gun” on the stagecoach. But the gold he’s talking about is the liquid kind, Rheingold Extra Dry.
