Beer In Ads #2861: Enjoy Life Smoking

December 21, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Friday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from 1963. This ad features a woman in a bar smoking a cigarette with a mug of beer in her hand. She’s surrounded by a couple of dudes, and we can only see her through a gap in between them. As she’s taking a drag on her cigarette — given the caption — I guess that’s how she’s enjoying life.

Thursday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from the 1950s. This ad features a man fishing from a rowboat, beer in one hand, fishing pole in the other. The fish seems way to happy.

Beer In Ads #2859: Enjoy Life Pheasant Hunting

December 19, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Wednesday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from 1962. This ad features a hunting party taking aim at a pheasant in the top illustration, with the tagline, “Same good taste everywhere!” In the bottom photo, they’re back home in somebody’s rec room. One of them has drained his beer while the other is nursing his. Not sure what to make of that. One of them was lucky, and the other wasn’t?

Beer In Ads #2858: Enjoy Life In The Red Room

December 18, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Tuesday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from 1963. This ad features a party going on in a brick-walled room with a roaring fire, French posters on the wall and fondue on a table. The room is bathed in red light which seems to be a persistent theme in Miller ad for a number of years. No idea why.

Beer In Ads #2857: Enjoy Life Or I’ll Shoot You

December 17, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Monday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from 1939. This ad features a man out hunting with his dog. I know he’s staring off at the sky, most likely looking for his prey, but I can’t help but think it also looks like he’s looking at me (or us), too, in a vaguely threatening manner. It’s a little unsettling, but then I remembered it’s 79 years old and he’s probably dead now, so I probably shouldn’t be too worried.

Beer In Ads #2856: Enjoy Life Duck Hunting

December 16, 2018 By Jay Brooks

Sunday’s ad is for Miller Brewing, from the 1940s. This ad features a man sitting on a riverbank by a case of beer, rifle in hand, waiting for a duck to come in range. He’s grinning like a man who’s had one too many, and I have to wonder why the decoys are just sitting there, and not being used?
