Beer & Biodiversity

January 7, 2014 By Jay Brooks

biodiversity
I just stumbled on this fun little video comparing biodiversity in the world of nature to the beer industry. It was created by Minute Earth, a YouTube channel showing primarily science videos about our planet. I wonder what inspired them to create Dude beer?

Time-Lapse Bigfoot Fermentation

January 3, 2014 By Jay Brooks

sierra-nevada
Here’s a very cool video of Sierra Nevada’s annual Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale being brewed in open fermenters. The video shows 12,400 gallons of barley wine fermenting “over six days in four traditional open fermenters.”

First made in 1983, Bigfoot has been released every February since, and will again be much easier to find than the real Bigfoot this coming February, as well.

Beer Film #1: As We Like It

January 1, 2014 By Jay Brooks

brookston-film
This year I decided to feature a new video about beer each day. Today’s beer video is from 1952 and was sponsored by the United States Brewers Foundation. The ten-minute film, As We Like It, is a fun little overview of beer’s history and its positive aspects.

Synonyms For Drunk Driving

December 24, 2013 By Jay Brooks

olcc
While no one in their right mind condones driving drunk, a fact utterly lost on prohibitionists like MADD and Alcohol Justice, I thought the latest video PSA from the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission) was a clever holiday video employing holiday music and lights showing nearly two-dozen synonyms for being drunk. I wonder if they got these from my list of around 5,000 Drunk Words? Please be safe this holiday season.
